NOTICE OF APPOINTMENT: BOARD CHAIRPERSON

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Uganda Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Rita Mitala Balaka as the new Chairperson of its Board of Directors.

Rita is an accomplished, seasoned governance, risk, and financial management professional with extensive executive-level experience across leading regional and international financial institutions. Her career reflects over three decades of strategic leadership, regulatory engagement, and organisational transformation, supported by strong analytical capability and a proven record of coaching, mentoring, and advising Boards, Chief Executives, Senior Management, and emerging leaders.

As she assumes this important role, Rita brings a wealth of expertise that will further advance the Bank’s strategic vision and commitment to delivering exceptional value to customers, shareholders and all stakeholders. UBA Uganda remains committed to driving innovation, sustainable growth and excellence in banking while continuing to contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s economic development under her leadership.

Mrs. Balaka succeeds Mr. Sebaggala Mustapha Kigozi, whose dedicated leadership, strategic guidance and invaluable contribution to the Bank have played a significant role in strengthening UBA Uganda’s growth and governance.
